AUGUST EVENTS

The Louise Nevelson Box Project Workshop
August 9th and 10th
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Kathleen Crocetti
No Fee

In the garden you will find an art installation inspired by Louise Nevelson.  This piece is small representation of a larger installation completed by 106 Mission Hill Middle School students.  The project was a collaborative art project designed to teach students about the life and work of Louise Nevelson as well as the value of working with community and developing collaborative teams. All the wood for the installation was landfill-diverted and generously set aside for us by the staff at the Watsonville Waste Relay Station.

Families are welcome to join artist Kathleen Crocetti on Saturday and Sunday, August 9 and 10, from 1:00 to 4 p.m. to create their own Nevelson Box. Please plan to work in teams of two, an adult and a child of at least 8 years of age, and wear grubby clothing or bring aprons. You are invited to add your completed box to the Sierra Azul Installation for the duration of the Sculpture Within exhibit and it may be picked up in October, or you may take it with you when you finish it.
